Courier business account vs pay as you go: which is right for you?
When a monthly account saves money and time, what it includes, how credit works, and when paying by card per job is the better choice.
Both get you the same vehicles, drivers and proof of delivery. The difference is how you book and how you pay. Here's how to decide.
| Pay as you go | Business account | |
|---|---|---|
| Booking | Online with a card, or phone | Phone, WhatsApp, email or online, no card |
| Price | Published rates | Negotiated rate card for your routes |
| Payment | Card at booking | One monthly invoice, 30-day terms |
| Proof of delivery | Emailed per job | Emailed per job and attached to the invoice |
| Priority when busy | Standard | Account jobs dispatched first |
| Reporting | Your email history | Job history searchable by PO, date, address |
| Best for | Occasional jobs, one-off emergencies | Ten or more jobs a month, several bookers, PO numbers |
What an account costs
Nothing. There's no fee and no minimum spend. We ask for around ten jobs a month because below that, the admin of invoicing doesn't save either of us anything. Credit limits above £2,000 a month involve a short credit check.
The one case where pay as you go is better
If you're testing us. Book two or three jobs by card, check the drivers turn up when they said, look at the proof of delivery, then apply for the account. We'd rather earn the account than ask for it.
