Moving high-value goods from the Jewellery Quarter: how secure courier works
For manufacturers, retailers and assay customers in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter: how high-value consignments are carried, insured and handed over, and what we won't do.
The Jewellery Quarter sends finished pieces, castings and stones across Birmingham and to London every working day. Most of it goes by registered post or trusted staff. For time-critical or bulkier consignments, a secure same-day courier is the alternative, and it has rules.
How a high-value job is handled
- 1.Declared at booking as 'High value' with an approximate value. Jobs above £10,000 need top-up insurance confirmed in writing before collection.
- 2.Dispatched to a company vehicle and an employed driver, never broadcast to the partner network.
- 3.Hand-to-hand only: the named sender to the driver, the driver to the named receiver. Photo ID checked at both ends if you ask.
- 4.Direct route, no other stops, vehicle never left unattended with goods inside. The tracking link shows you the whole journey.
What we don't do
- Carry cash above £500, or loose precious metals and stones above our insurer's limits without specific cover.
- Deliver to anyone other than the named receiver, including reception desks, security guards or family members.
- Leave anything, anywhere, if the receiver isn't available. The goods come back to you or wait at our depot in a safe.
